    This is getting ridiculous…

I’m driving to work this morning on Beltway 8, and you won’t believe what happened…my damn tire blew out! It was right before the exit to Highway 3, so I managed to get off the Beltway onto the feeder road.

I called Roadside Assistance around 6:30 a.m., and they finally showed up at 7:30 a.m. During that hour, I just sat in my car playing games on my PDA and calling people on my cell phone. Since the tire was pretty much destroyed, I had to go get a new one. I hate driving on that spare tire. I finally got to work, with a new tire, around 9:00 a.m.

I shouldn’t be surprised since it had been a little while since my last flat tire incident. I need to get some heavy-duty, nail & screw resistant tires. The cause of today’s flat look like either a screw or nail, but I couldn’t tell since the top part of it was already broken off.

Here’s a picture of the tire I took with my cell phone:

    Another year gone…

This past Tuesday was my 32nd birthday. It was pretty much uneventful. I had my presentation for the City Of Houston Administrative Professionals Conference the next day, so I had to finish preparing for that. I think I’ll go out for a birthday dinner with my family sometime this weekend.

I felt good about the presentation I did on Wednesday. I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be. I got to see people that I hadn’t seen in a while, so that was a bonus. After I was done, I was presented with a certificate and a beautiful plaque. I have it displayed proudly at my office.

    Just Lucky

I finally made it back to the store this afternoon where I wanted to buy my outfit for the presentation I have to give on Wednesday. When I went to this store a couple of months, they are so many great pant suits, ranging in price from $54.99 up to $69.00. So I was a little shocked when I went back today, and they had very little of a selection let. Fortunately for me, I did find one outfit left in my size. Even better than that, I got it for 50% off the markdown price! The suit's original cost was $64.99, and I got it for $24.99. I guess it was a good thing that I waited until the last minute.

    I need what?!

Sometimes my boss says things to me that just don't make any sense. At least, they don't make any sense to me. Last week, we were talking. I don't even remember how the conversation got stated, but it ended with him telling me that I need a husband. I was shocked! I don't need a husband; I don't even want a husband right now. I told him that he was full of shit and I didn't need a husband. Fortunately for me, the project engineer joined in the conversation. She said that husbands are too much trouble, and I'm better off without one. I'm so glad she was there.

    Two Games - Two Assists

What a great weekend! The Aeros had their first two play-off games on Friday and Saturday nights. They won both of them, but not easily; both games went into overtime. Kudos to my boy, Erik Reitz! He got an assist an each game.

I'm starting to get nervous about my presentation that I'm giving on Wednesday. I still need to do a few touch-ups my presentation, and get an outfit to wear. I guess I'll be doing that tomorrow or Tuesday. It just seems like 24 hours in a day isn't enough.

    Shattered

My holiday weekend did not get off to a good start. Sometime between 4pm-5pm on Friday, something hit the back windshield of my car and shattered it. It was such a mess; glass was everywhere. I was already running late to make it to the Aeros game, so I ended up driving my mom's car there.

On Saturday, I called several companies before I finally found one that had my windshield in stock (thank goodness!). The guy came out Saturday afternoon and I was able to get it replaced (for $300). I'm just glad I was able to get it down before I had to go to work on Monday.

At least my mom's cat was able to enjoy the broken windshield:

    My Boy Gets The Call!

I received some awesome news tonight. My favorite Aero, Erik Reitz, got called up to the Minnesota Wild! I'm so happy for him; I can't stop smiling!

I guess it's time to pull out my Wild Reitz jersey!

    Way to go, Reitz!!

    Right On

I love it when my horoscope is just perfect for the issues I'm currently dealing with. Check out mine for today:

Ignoring the external world will enable you to see the things that really matter.

It's the right moment to make good on a promise -- especially if it should've been fulfilled a while ago. Don't worry -- this person doesn't hold it against you. Just make sure you follow through on the deal.

Sometimes bad-old habits can muck up a good-old-fashioned good time. Whether it's tobacco or a tendency toward unnecessary bickering with a loved one, there's a certain bad-old habit that you'd do well to get rid of. Or at least get started on the project -- changing behavioral patterns takes time, commitment and lots of energy, you know. But you've got all three, in spades.

    It Was Worth It

The past year and a half has been extremely rough on me. It's been a hard time, but I made it through it with support from my friends and family.

I did something tonight for me. It may not make sense to other people, but it made everything I had to endure last year just seem like nothing. I bid on Erik Reitz's game-worn jersey and won! This has been one of the best nights of my life.
