    Presentation Follow-up

I gave my E-Mail Etiquette presentation to the Houston IAAP Chapter last Tuesday. Overall, I think it was a success. I would estimate about 23 people were there. There was some panic earlier in the day when I found out that they didn’t have a projector I could use. Thank goodness for my sister, Lori, and her friend Laura. They came through for me in a big way and got me a projector to use. Thank you Lori and Laura!!

    Looking Good

I'm in the process of getting all my speaker info together that I need to submit to the City of Houston since I'm one of the speakers at their Administrative Professionals Conference in April. One of the items I need to submit is a one-page biography. When I first mentioned this to my new project manager, he said he would assist me if I needed any help. I finally had some time today to work on it and came to realize that I haven't done much in my life. Well, I've done a lot, but nothing worth writing about in my speaker biography. I gather up as much stuff as I could, tried to work on it some more, and just got frustrated. So, I decided to take my new boss up on his offer. I showed him what I had so far, as well as all my notes. He told me just to leave it with him and he would work on it.

I had to leave work early today to attend a training class in Baytown. When I got home, I logged in to check my work e-mail. He had already sent me an email letting me know he left me a copy for me on my desk to look on and said we could discuss it more on Monday. I was shocked that he got to it so soon! I think it's safe to say that my new boss will work out just fine.

    Radio Ad

There is this annoying commercial that I keep hearing on the radio. It starts off like it's some big announcement. Then, right before it gets to the "good part", you're asked to deposit 25 cents to hear the rest of it. Then, a voice comes on and says, "Radio…you shouldn't have to pay for it."

I understand what they are trying to do, but you pay for radio no matter what. It's the listener's decision whether or not he/she wants to pay for it by listening to annoying commercials, or pay a fee to have commercial-free radio. In my opinion, the ad is just inane…and it gets on my nerves.

    I've Got Mail

The post office finally figured out how to forward mail! Today, I received 10 pieces of mail that were mailed to my address and fowarded to my new one.

What is really sad is that the postmark on the mail was back from November and December!

    Swallowed a Fly

During one of my runaway thought trains, I remembered a song that we used to sing as children. It was about a woman swallowing a fly.

I think it went something like this:

    I don't know why
    She swallowed a fly;
    I guess she'll die
    .

What kind of morbid message is that? And why the hell were we singing about it?

    Just something to think about...

    Tears

I'm not having a very good day. It's nothing big, I just feel stressed. As I'm working on putting some paper packages together, I started to think about Daryn and how much I miss him. It's been almost a year since he passed away. The more I think about him, I notice that my eyes start to tear up. They say that time heals all wounds, but they never say how much time is needed.
