Well, here it is…my last entry for 2005.
Christmas came and went. We had a low-key celebration on Christmas Eve. On Christmas day, everyone left to visit my step-dad's family in Corpus Christi, so I had the house all to myself. Then, around 8:00 a.m., my neighbor informs me that my parents' dog was running loose around the neighborhood. Fortunately, I was able to catch him and return him to the backyard without too much trouble.
Even though a lot of people were out from work this past week, it was still crazy for me. My project manager took me to lunch on Thursday. Of course, I was paranoid about why he was taking me out, like if he had to give me some bad news or something. Luckily, he just took me out to show his appreciation for all the hard work I do.
Tonight, I'm just hanging around the house - a nice, quiet New Year's Eve.

At work, I think I let a lot of things that piss me off slide. Contrary to what some may believe, I’m really not a confrontational-type of person. When I found out that someone was rude to my client at work, I was livid. Granted, I only heard the client’s side of the story, but my view is that the client is the one that needs to be pleased. I just hope the thing my project manager is working on for me comes through.

Is it just me, or is anyone else sick of seeing those Lexus commercials where people get new cars as a Christmas gifts?

Being able to go to Aeros games over the weekend was great. Erik Reitz got an assist in both games. I am so proud of him!
Things have still been hectic in my life. On Friday, I overslept and missed my doctor's appointment. It surprised me because I never missed an appointment until then. I called the office and fortunately was able to reschedule to Monday at 3pm. That means that I'll have to leave work early, but I really don't have another option. I need my medications!
Work has still been stressful. I was in the project manager's office on Thursday going over some details on a document, and got some news from him that makes it look like there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Since it's still very preliminary, I don’t want to say too much yet for the fear that I'll spoil it. Hopefully, I'll know more by next month. I'll keep you posted.

My boy got a short-handed goal at last night’s game. It just sucks that they were playing in Cleveland, OH so I wasn’t able to be there to see it.
On a sad note, just a week after Mittens died, our neighbors’ cat was stuck and killed by a car yesterday evening. He was a great cat, and the only one I ever met that encouraged you to scratch his stomach. At least the couple that hit him stopped. The girl was shaken up, and they didn’t do it on purpose. It was just a sad situation all around.

Things have been crazy at work. Our project is behind schedule and they want to get it back on schedule before Christmas. So, I had to work extra hours every day this week, except for yesterday. I left an hour early just to get out of there. I hate working the extra hours, but I'm sure I'll appreciate it once I get the paycheck with overtime on it.
Today, I'm finally catching up on my home email. I haven't been checking it after work every day because I've been too tired to do so. After sitting in front of a computer all day, it's hard to come home and to sit in front of another one.
We had another animal scare this past Wednesday evening. My parents' dog, Hiway, was not doing so well. He would even get up. They took him to the vet that evening to find out that he had some sort of infection and was severely dehydrated. So, the vet gave him some IV fluids to hydrate him and a couple of shots of antibiotics. He's now on medication for the next ten days, and has to stay confined during that time. The vet wants us the limit the amount of stress on his body. Since he's an outside dog and used to having a backyard to run free in, the past couple of days have busy around here. The important thing is that he's doing better, which makes all of us very happy.

Would someone please explain to me how some people can be so degrading to people all the time?! I don’t get it. There are some people at work that never cease to amaze me. They are constantly demeaning people. Although I like a majority of the people I work with, those few mean ones make it really, really tough.

This weekend was just hell. There's no other way to put it. One of my parents' cats, Mittens, passed away. He was 14 years old, but still it was a sad situation. It happened late Saturday night. Since both my mom and step-dad were extremely shaken up but the whole thing, I had to stay strong for them. After my step-dad dug a grave for him, I had to wrap him up in a towel and place him in there. It was probably one of the hardest things I ever I had to do; and an image that won't leave my mind soon enough. I didn't get a chance to truly grieve for him until tonight. It really hit me when their other cat, Smokey, wouldn't come near me. It dawned on me that Smokey had watched me put Mittens in his grave, and I wondered if he thought I was going to do the same thing to him. After everyone went to bed, I went outside to have my final words with Mittens. I didn't care that it was cold and raining, I had to do it. I'm going to miss him so much.
Here's a picture I took of him less than a week ago:
