    Flying Attitudes

I’m feeling a lot better than I did on Sunday. I hate being in a “blah” mood. Work has been crazy. I took ½ day vacation yesterday just to get a break from some of the attitudes that have been flying around here. I’m just grateful that I’ll be at an Aeros’ hockey game tonight :-)

    Everything is Great

It's been a difficult night for me. It didn't help much watching the Aeros lose 3-0. It was just a horrible game. Erik Reitz hustled as best he could and played great, but he couldn't do it by himself.

Besides the game, I'm just dealing with a lot of issues right now that revolve around both family and work. As much as I'm stressing over everything, I have yet to speak up. I don't want to stir up anything and then have to deal with that. So, I'll do what I'll normally do…suffer quietly and tell everyone that I'm fine and everything is great. At the end of the day, isn't that what people what to hear?

    Screwed again (x2!)

We went to San Antonio for Thanksgiving. Since we took my mom's car, I parked mine in the garage. We only stayed one night and came back home. As I was unloading my stuff, my mom said that I had a flat tire on my car. WTF!? My car had been sitting in a garage for over 24 hours. As my step-dad was taking off the tire, he said he found the screw that caused the flat. After he got it off and rolled it over, he found a second screw.

For the official count, this is my fifth flat tire this year. Maybe I'll make it 1/2 dozen before New Year's Eve.

    Yield!

Most traffic lights allow the “Right on Red” rule. The problem is that it seems like a lot of people don’t understand how it works. So here are some pointers courtesy of me:

Just because you are at a red light and are going to turn right, it does not mean you have the right-a-way. You still must yield to the on-coming traffic.

You still must make a complete stop at the red light before turning right.

    Blogs

During last night’s episode of Desperate Housewives, there was a scene where Lynette asked the receptionist at her work (Stu) if he was busy. He told her that he was just updating his blog. Isn’t it great that blogs are getting more recognition :-)

    Zicam

I was sick the week before last, and relapsed this past week. I had to leave work early on Thursday because I couldn’t even function any more. I bought several different types of medicine, and none of them did anything for me. I finally found one that worked – Zicam! The first Zicam product I bought didn’t work, but then I bought their Cold Remedy Swabs and it worked wonders! I’m finally feeling better, which is good since I hate being sick.

    Success

Even though I was feeling under the weather, I still did my “E-Mail Etiquette” presentation to the Baytown IAAP Chapter last Thursday. I managed to do the entire thing without letting one cuss word slip out! After I was done, they gave me a wonderful silver desk clock with the IAAP logo on it as a speaker’s gift. It looks great on my desk and I just love it!

    Reitz Can't Carry The Team!

I know it’s been a while since I blogged. Let me see if I can summary what’s happened over the last several days.

Last Wednesday, I was sick. I felt like crap and shouldn’t have even gone into work, but I did. I told myself I would leave early, but I just had so much stuff to do. I did manage to leave an hour earlier then usual. I didn’t dare miss the Aeros game that night, and it’s a good thing I didn’t. Erik Reitz was the photo on the program that night (of course I bought one) and he got an assist.

I was smart enough to call in sick to work on Thursday, since I still felt like crap.

On Friday, I had my first appointment with my new psychiatrist. I was hesitant when I first entered his office, but felt pretty comfortable by the time I left. For my depression, I told him that the Effexor really doesn’t work as well as I remember the Celexa working. So, I’m getting back on the Celexa (yea!). This week is my transition week – I take one Effexor and one Celexa each day. Then, starting next week, I’ll be taking two Celexa pills a day. It will probably be several weeks before I can tell if the Celexa really works better than the Effexor. I also told him the Ambien wasn’t doing anything for me, so now I’m going to try Lunesta; I’m sure you’ve seen their television commercials.

The rest of the weekend was all about the Aeros. Actually, it was more about Reitz. After Sunday’s game, he has had assists in four straight games, both a new career-high and new team season-high. I’m just so proud of him. As I tell many people at the Aeros game:

    “Reitz can’t carry the team!”

    I'm wanted.

I got an email last week from a member of Baytown IAAP Chapter. I've been invited to give the presentation on E-Mail Etiquette that I gave to my chapter back in August. I was flattered to be asked, so I'm pretty excited about it. I just hope it goes as well as it did back in August.

    I didn't do it…I just found it.

My bathroom's sink was clogging up. I tried Liquid Plumber and it didn't do crap. So on Saturday, I decided to do a little investigating under the sink. My mom suggested that I turn the water to the sink off first. I turned off the hot water with no problem, but when I went to turn of the cold water, the knob was stuck. When I pressed on it, water went every where.

My step dad came into the bathroom and asked what I did this time. I told him that I didn't do…I just found it. He looked under there and said that there was definitely something wrong. He goes to the store and gets a new tube and knob for the cold water. He was able to change it out with no problem, but my sink was still clogging up. So he went and bought a new p-trap for it. He took the old one off and didn't find anything stuck in there. He put the new one on, and then it wouldn't stop leaking. So now, the bathroom sink was clogged and leaking. Today, he went and purchased all new pipes for under the sink. He switched them out and the leaking stopped. But, the sink was still clogging up. He finally gave up and now a plumber will be coming out this week to look at it.

    TGFH!!!

    Thank Goodness For Hockey!

Work was just so crazy this week. I had to arrange a baby shower for our client, and was given less than a week notice to pull it off. I don't know anything about baby showers, so it was not a very easy chore to me. Believe it or not, I was able to pull it off. One would think that I could relax once it was done, but that wasn't the case. In the midst of all the preparations, I was still getting assigned "real" work. I didn't know if I was ever going to catch up. The baby shower was held on Wednesday. Fortunately, my manager had to go off-site all day Thursday for meetings, so I was finally able to catch up on all the items on my To-Do List. I was just grateful that I had a hockey game to go to that night so I could get rid of all my stress that had built up over the week.

I don't ever want to imagine life without hockey. Hockey rules!
