Jana has been my hairstylist for many years and I believe she is the best. Due to financial restraints, I haven’t been to see her in a few months. My best friend, Christine, saw Jana a couple of days ago. Jana told Christine that she had a job lead for me. So I contacted Jana, who asked me to get a copy of my resume to her so she could pass it one to the guy next week. I went to her salon this morning to drop off the resume. I decided to stay and visit for a while. As Jana was finishing up with a client, she informed me that she was going to give my hair highlights. I told her that I had no money, and she said that she wasn’t going to charge me…because she was going to use me as a guinea pig for a new product.
I had no idea what I was going to look like once Jana got done with me, but I always trust her. I was under the hairdryer when she decided to take a look at the highlights. She took off a piece of foil and freaked out! I wasn’t in front of a mirror, so I had no idea what my hair looked like. I quickly realized that she was freaking out in a good way. She was in love with how my hair turned out. She said that it was so blonde, it was like “porno blonde”.
This evening, I was fortunate enough to be treated to dinner by Christine and her family. I wanted to get their opinion on the highlights, which they seemed to like it. As for me, I’m still adjusting to the porno blonde.

If you watched Boston Legal last night…that would make sense to you. Unfortunately, the next episode is not until February 13th.
But, there is hope! A new episode of Smallville is finally coming on this Wednesday at 7:00pm. It’s about time!

I heard from the staffing agency this morning. The company I interviewed with hasn’t made a decision yet. They are still interviewing. The rep from the staffing agency is going to try to get a final decision from them today. I'll keep you posted.

I survived the interview, swollen face and all. The company is great. The job has some perks, but also a lot of things I’m not too thrilled about. If I get offered the job, I’ll take it just because I need a job. They have two more people to interview and should be done with the interviews by tomorrow afternoon.
The representative from the staffing agency wanted me to call her after the interview to follow-up. So I gave her a call and she told me the lady I interviewed with had already called her and was very impressed with me. She said the fact that I went to the interview with my swollen face showed “initiative”.
I’ll let you know as soon as I hear anything.

My interview is less than 12 hours away. My lower lip is still swollen, as is the lower right-side of my face. I would like God to just give me one stinkin’ break. I’m tired of being tested! I would really like to look good for my job interview tomorrow. As many of you already know...I really need a job!!!

The past couple of days has been very interesting, to say the least.
Starting late Tuesday night, I thought I was having some sort of allergic reaction. Both of my eyes and my upper lip became swollen. I also had hives all over my body. I waited a day to see if the symptoms improved. The hives did go away, as did the swelling of my upper lip. However, my lower lip then swelled up. My eyes were still swollen, but not as bad as the previous day. I was trying to figure out what I may have eaten recently that was out of the ordinary for me. By Thursday afternoon, only half of my lower lip was swollen, but the lower right side of my face was swollen, and painful. I didn’t have a clue what was going on. I just chalked it up to being a freak of nature.
Around 2:00am Friday morning, I couldn’t stand the pain anymore. The eye swelling was almost completely gone, but the pain around the lower part of my face was getting unbearable. I went to Alvin Urgent Care, the “pinnacle” of health care in Alvin. Much to my surprise, I was told that I had a tooth abscess. There is a chance that I was having an allergic reaction before, but it was the abscess that was causing my pain.
I called my dentist later that morning to let him know about my visit to the Urgent Care center. He wasn’t in the office, but his staff told me to call a specialist they refer people to that are in the same situation that I was in. I called them up and was told to be in there office in an hour. Next thing you know, I’m having a root canal done. I’m sure this doesn’t shock anyone…but the infected tooth was the one that I had a crown put on last year. The crown saga has been resurrected!

That would describe what happened to the Aeros tonight. It was a disappointing loss.

The temp agency I am registered with has a job interview set up for me on Monday. It’s with a company called Univar. Originally, the agency submitted me for a Sales Support Specialist position with the company. After receiving my resume, the company representative called and said they wanted to interview me for the Industrial Sales/Logistics Coordinator position. I’m was surprised by that since I don’t have a lot of the qualifications they were seeking for that particular position, but I’ll take anything I can get at this point.
What's really neat about this interview is that the company is located by Hobby Airport, which a fairly short drive for me.

Congratulations to the Houston Aeros!!! They shut out the 1st place Milwaukee Admirals 7-0 for the biggest home win in their 11-year history.
Way to go, guys!!

I’m sure this is the main reason why so many people call you. It’s just too bad you can’t tell them that directly. It also sucks that people don’t appreciate you as much as they should.

I got the rejection letter today for the job I interviewed for last Friday.
Back to the drawing board…

I went on my job interview with UTMB this past Friday. Overall, I think it went well. One of the interviewers told me that they had a total of 45 applicants for the position, and that they chose six of those to interview. It was nice to know that I made it to the final six.
I don’t think I got the job. During the interview, they said they would probably make a decision by that afternoon, or Monday at the latest. The person who gets the job would get a phone call, and the others would be notified via mail. Since I didn’t get a phone call, I’m expecting to get a letter.
Constantly, I have been applying for positions and not getting any calls. So when I did a call for an interview, it helped boost my spirits.

Last Thursday, I went to see my doctor. He was not very happy that I had to discontinue my Effexor. He expressed concern over any withdrawal effects I might experience. I told him that I have his phone number posted by my phone, and if it got bad I would call him. Trust me, I would love to be able to stay on it, but I don’t have health insurance and Effexor is pretty pricey. He said he had a few samples, but not enough to really make a difference. I told him not to worry about it and that I had been off of it for one day and it’s been okay so far.
That quickly changed on Saturday. I slept most of the day. I would wake up for a couple of hours, and then sleep for a couple of hours. Later that night, around 10:00pm, I probably came the closest I ever had to having some sort of breakdown. It was so intense, and really thought I could not live. I had been off Effexor for a total of three days, which I didn’t think was very long. My doctor was right…Effexor is a very, very powerful drug.
I couldn’t even talk right. The best way I can describe my speech was that it was “choppy”. The center of my brain felt like a black hole, and the rest of my brain was being pulled into that hole. It was such a terrible feeling.
I ended up calling my mom. She drove to my place, and we went to Walgreens to get some Effexor for me. I also told her that I might be having problems since I hadn’t smoked a cigarette for a day. I know a person can have nicotine withdrawals, and quitting smoking at the same time as quitting Effexor was probably not the best decision. The only reason why I quit smoking was because I had no money to buy the cigarettes, not because I had planned to quit.
By the next day, I was feeling a lot better. I’m back on 150 mg. of Effexor every day, and I still haven’t smoked one cigarette!
Now…if only I could get a job!
