    Aeros Win!!

My boys did it! My first chance to attend a home game this season and the Aeros capture their first home win. This included a hat trick by Kyle Wanvig. Even cute Czech boy "Z" (aka Zbynek Michalek) made goal. I would love to have that kid for a little brother. He's just too darn cute! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, but my sister didn't forget hers. To see the pics, go here.

One thing to note...I do know who Wanvig's number one fan is...and that's Audra! I bet she was creamin' in her pants when he made that first goal. I shutter to think what she was like after his third one! If you get a chance, I highly recommend that you check out her web site.

I'm still trying to get accustomed to the new additions to the Aeros team this year. It was also sad not to see Curtis Murphy there. He seems to be doing okay with the Milwaukee Admirals - one goal and two assists already this year.

My sister and I went to Arne's Warehouse yesterday to buy some items for the chili cook-off my work is hosting on Friday. I'm walking down the aisle and find a 48" inflatable willie! I just started laughing out loud. Then, I thought about Audra...don't know why, but I did. I called out to Lori, who was a few aisles down, that I found something we could give Audra. She asked what it was and I told her. Then, much to my surprise, she asked "What's a willie?" I guess I forgot that she is still naive when it comes to some aspects of life; but that is a good thing. I wouldn't want it any other way.

    TGIS?!

I never thought I would be happy to see Sunday arrive, but it's been a busy weekend. I finally got to sleep in today and I really enjoyed it!

I missed the Aeros game on Friday, but it that the Aeros didn't show up, either. They lost 3-0 to the Cleveland Barons. They played again today against the Utah Grizzlies, but my sister and I didn't go to the game. We agreed that this weekend has already been too hectic, so we're going to Tuesday night's game instead. They play the Cleveland Barons again, so we'll see how they do if Lori and I show up. If the Aeros don't improve, I may have to go out on the ice myself and kick some ass!

The Haunted House was very successful this weekend. Our total revenue was $2,529! I'm still in the process of collecting all the receipts for items that we bought for the haunted house. Hopefully, Thursday and Friday nights will be all profit. $$$

So, if you're going to the Aeros game Tuesday night, then hopefully I'll see you there. Otherwise, try to come out to AEMS's Haunted House! Don't let the fact that it's in a small town fool you...it's pretty damn good!

    One busy night!

Well, it was the first night of the haunted house. We did a lot better than expected. Usually our first night is slow, but that wasn't the case this year. I'm still sad about missing the Aeros first home game. I did take a radio with me so I could listen to the game. When the Aeros were down 3-0, I had to turn it off. I couldn't handle the stress anymore! My friend Don was working the ticket sales table with me...and after some of my outbursts, he asked if he was even safe sitting next to me. That was a pretty good clue that I was getting way too keyed up.

I really tired now and ready to go to bed. I have to be in Katy tomorrow by 9am for a study session. Hopefully, I'll have enough time in the afternoon to take a nap before tomorrow night's haunted house.

    Yes...he is crazy!

Now that you're wondering who the hell I'm talking about...I'm referring to crazy dude Kirk Flight.

He is just so cool! He likes hockey AND has a motorcycle! He emailed me these pics today and said they were for my web page. He ended the message with "...and yes I am crazy". So, I figured that would be a good title for the photo album I uploaded his pictures to. You can see all the pictures here.

I told him that I was going to miss the Aeros first home game. He got tickets for the Toronto Maple Leafs. I told him that he better take some pictures at the game and send them to me. He did send me a couple from last season, which was neat. When's he's down in Rosharon, I'll have to drag him to one of the Aeros game. Hopefully, he won't get scared by my "spirited" cheering.

Tomorrow is the last day of my Business Law & Finance class module, which means we'll be doing a mock exam. I am not ready for it at all! Hell, I'm not even ready for the big exam on November 8th. I am taking vacation on November 6th & 7th, so hopefully I'll be able to learn everything I really need to in those two days. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Work has been extremely hectic this week. My inbox seems to be growing out of control. I try to be positive and think of it as "job security". I worked late tonight and, even though I didn't manage to finish everything I wanted do; I had to force myself to leave before I went crazy. Well, I'm already crazy, but I don't want to make it worse.

On a positive note, when I left work, one of my "feel good" songs was playing. You may laugh at this, but it was Dolly Parton's 9 to 5. I was jammin' on all the way home from work.

And to top off a wonderful evening, one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes was on tonight, titled "The Face Painter". It's so f*#kin funny! So, I leave you with this tonight....

    Tough Choices!

As many of you know, I am an active member of the Volunteers of Alvin EMS. Our 7th annual haunted house starts this Friday, October 24th. This is also the same night of the Aeros' first home game this season. We are extremely short-handed for people to work the haunted house. Being the dedicated volunteer that I am, I am going to miss the Aeros' game to work the haunted house.

I love the Aeros, and my sister will still be at the game to help cheer them on the victory! The haunted house is the main fundraiser of AEMS. Since I'm the Treasurer of the organization, anything I can do to help bring in money, I'm there.

For anyone going to the game, be sure to yell some obscenities for me!

    I finally got his picture!

Okay...I finally got a picture of Kirk Flight...the guy at my work that reminds me of Curtis Murphy. He is such a good-natured person. He didn't seem to mind that I was chasing him around today with a camera.

He based out of our Houma office, but has periodically been working out of our Rosharon location. He's originally from Newfoundland. I also got a pic of him along with some of his Houma buddies. You can view it here.

Well, I'm listening to the Aeros game so I'm going to cut this blog short. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Tomorrow's the big day!

Okay...it's not as big as the Aeros first home game, but it is their first game! To top it off, they are playing the Milwaukee Admirals...the new home of Curtis Murphy! I've been trying to keep up with the Admirals, and they tied their game on Wednesday night. I'm going to be torn between whom to root for!

I still need to try to get a pic of that guy at work that could pass as Curtis Murphy's brother! He's based out of Louisiana, but is here this week. Of course, I didn't have my camera. Hopefully, he'll still be there tomorrow and I can finally get a picture of him posted on my web site.

Don't forget, the 7th Annual AEMS Haunted House starts next weekend! Be sure to pass the word around.

    Tomorrow is Boss' Day!

Just in case you didn't remember...

My boss is the hardest man to shop for. I guess we just don't talk enough about stuff outside of work for me to figure out good gifts to give him. Last year, I still had John Kerr as my boss. I got him an ice chest packed with IceHouse beer. He loved it! Of course, he's originally from Scotland and anyone who know Scots know that they love to drink!

I'm also baking cookies for the other managers that I support. It's the least I can do.

On Saturday, I'm getting my RoadRunner DSL installed. I am so happy about that. I won't have to deal with SBC DSL after that.

Well, I need to finish my baking. I hope everyone has a great week!

    My family is so cool!

Well, I attended my family reunion today in Moulton. It was so fun! To see pictures, click here.

I was able to stay as long as I wanted to, since an AEMS supervisors' meeting was scheduled for tonight. Once I got back into Alvin, it was decided that we would have the meeting tomorrow before the general membership meeting. That actually worked out better for me since I haven't finished my Treasurer's Report yet.

I need everyone's help! Please pass the word around about Alvin EMS's 7th Annual Haunted House. All the details are located on the web site. If you would like flyers, I have those too. Just let me know and I'll send you some. Our haunted house has been voted as one of the best in the Houston-area! Since my schedule has been so hectic, I have been able to do as much advertising as I need to...so please help me!

    You guys are the best!

You know you have ADD when...

the bathtub overflows because you went to heat up the coffee while it was filling and then went to dig clean underwear out of the pile on top of the dryer and decided to fold the clothes while you were there-the coffee got cold again too!

This is from one of my favorite websites, YKYADDW. It's a humorous look at ADD. As people read it, a lot of them will say to themselves, "I've done that!" Does this mean they have ADD?? Probably not. Just keep in mind that a lot of this stuff happens to an ADDer on a daily basis.

I have to keep a sense of humor when it comes to my ADD. People just so frustrated with me, but I have to remind them to be patient. I am who I am...and although I am on medication to help control it, it's still there.

I had a pleasant surprise on Thursday night. One of my friends that I hadn't talked to in ages called me. We stayed on the phone until after midnight, when I realized that I really need to get to bed because I had to work that morning. I have known Chris since 1998. We met at the annual Texas EMS Conference. We did date for a while, and we are fortunate enough to still be good friends. Chris is one of the best friends to have. He'll do anything for you. The only bad part is that he lives in Chillicothe, TX. If you don't know where it's at, it's almost 500 miles NNE of Alvin. But, the good thing is that we bought are still involved in EMS, so we get to see each other at least once a year at the Texas EMS Conference. Chris is also a proud owner of a red Honda 1800 VTX (an awesome motorcycle!).

Tomorrow, I'm off to Moulton, TX for a family reunion. It should be fun. I consider the members of this side of the family to be the crazy, fun ones :-)

Vacation is all I ever wanted...

Wow...I took a vacation day from work today...and look at the weather! I really didn't plan on doing anything outside, so it really doesn't matter what the weather is like. I just needed a "mental health" day off, so I took one! Since I have an appointment with my psychiatrist this afternoon, I figured it would be a good day to take one.

Last night was a great night! A new episode of Smallville AND hockey! My sister came over after school to visit me. It was a pretty cool night.

I went ahead and signed up for Road Runner yesterday. I'm tired of dealing with this DSL crap. Schlumberger employees get a discount with Road Runner, so that really helped with my decision to switch. They are supposed to contact me within the next two days to set up an appointment for installation.

Since I didn't blog yesterday, I'll say this today...Happy Birthday, Jackie!!!! Jackie is a fellow member of the Clear Lake/NASA Area Chapter of IAAP. Jackie and her husband, Sergio, are expecting their first baby in February. Congratulations to both of them!

Well, that's it for now. Have a great Thursday!!!

    DSL is not the best...

Well, this blog is being posted a little late because my DSL went down again! I called technical support and they said they would have to send out a technician tomorrow.

So, I spent a majority of the night cleaning my computer's hard drives. Then, I restarted my computer, which I had done several times already today, and the damn DSL connects this time! So, I called John the tech to let him know it was back up again. He asked me to check it again in the morning before we completely cancel the technician visit since my computer was "pulling" as strong as it should. I told him just not to do anything tonight until I finished my blog (I have my priorities!).

Work is getting a little better. The shingles are getting a little worse. I don't know how long it takes the medicine to kick in. I have discovered that applying a cold pack to the area gives me great relief. I'm using an ace bandage to hold the cold pack in place. I'm definitely going to have to wear this to work tomorrow.

The countdown is on to my CPS Exam date, which is November 8th. I really need to start studying. One of the other students in my class has reserved a conference room at the Schlumberger office located on Dairy Ashford for the next four Saturdays. So, every Saturday, from 12:00pm - 4:00pm, I'll be cramming for the exam with the others. At least this way, I'll be forced to study. It's hard to study at home...I can always find something else to do.

I wanted to take this opportunity to be sentimental about some great people. Greg has been a great help on my web site. I'm surprise he gets any real work done between all the questions both me and my sister are always emailing him about! The other person is Audra - this girl is just so awesome! I have never met anyone with so much energy (and such a distinct laugh!). It has been a while since I've been able to check her web site, but I recently did...and I love her new layout! It fits her perfectly!

Also, I wanted to send congrats out to my friend Aimee...who got a new job! Way to go, girl!

Thanks to everyone for their kind words and support during the past month. I couldn't have done it without you!

    It's been proven!

Anyone who knows me knows that I have been under an extreme amount of stress lately. I thought I was handling it okay, but apparently not. I would tell myself that if I could last through September, I could handle anything.

I didn't realize how bad my body was suffering during this stressful time. It was confirmed today when I went to the doctor. I noticed a small rash on the left side of my abdomen on Saturday. By this morning, it had spread to the front. I went to my doctor, who told me "Welcome to the wonderful world of shingles!"

If you don't know much about shingles, you can find it here. It's basically chicken pox coming back to haunt you. After reading about what possible causes of the shingles outbreak, there are only two I qualify for: stress and depression. Since I'm on medication for my depression, it's gotta be the stress.

The good news, once you have shingles, you shouldn't have to deal with it again (like with chicken pox). So, now I'm on medicine and hoping that the terrible pain that is associated with it won't be too bad.

    Contrary to belief...

    I do still exist!

Between the crazy schedule at work and my DSL being out for over two weeks, I have not been able to post anything! I would really be surprised if anyone even bothers to read this anymore.

I did get move into the new apartment...and I love it. I didn't realize how much I would enjoy having a small yard. Ariel seems to enjoy it more than me! However, last week, she decided the bring a lizard she had killed and half-eaten into my bedroom. Fortunately, she left it on the carpet and didn't bring it into the bed.

Work has been crazy!!!! My department finally got moved into the new building last week. One highlight at work is a guy we have that is a Curtis Murphy look-alike! I'm not joking! I'm going to try to get a pic of him and post it in the photo gallery. He thinks I'm crazy...but so does everyone else. He's originally from New Foundland. It's great to have someone at work to talk hockey with.

Well, I'll try to improve my blogging times. But this is all I'm going to type for now because I am tired and ready for bed!
