    Tropical Storm Grace...an oxymoron?

Well, it doesn't look like I'll get to take Vickie for a ride this weekend. I woke up bright and early this morning and ran all my errands, which included a trip to work to clean my fish tank. It's hard to do that during a regular work day.

I really don't have any big plans the rest of the weekend...which is pretty sad. With the bad weather, it is good to stay in. Unfortunately, so much of my stuff is already packed, there isn't much left for me to do.

One of my pet peeves are these darn "dedicated" reporters that insist on telling people to stay indoors and that it is too dangerous for them to go outside. But, they there are, reporting in the middle of the storm. Do they think they are super-human or something?

I managed to get my "I'm Moving" cards printed and addressed. I'll send those out next week. I used the pictures of Ariel on top of the moving boxes on them.
I must admit...they came out looking so cute!

My internet connection has been up and down all day. I'm sure it's because of the weather. Since it was up right now, I figured that I better blog before it goes down again. So...I did!

I'm so glad I can swim...

...it helps me keep my head above water.

This has been one hectic week. I have basically done nothing but work. I came into to work before 5:00am both Tuesday and Wednesday. Since I had class right after work yesterday, I didn't attempt to come in early. I didn't want to fall asleep driving home after class.

I am looking forward to the three-day weekend :-) I hope I get a chance to take my motorcycle out. It's been a while since I've been riding. I'm sure Vickie is quite ticked off that I haven't taken her out in a while.

I've pretty much packed everything that I can for the move. I think my total number of boxes at this point is 53 (or something close to that). I'll just be glad when it's all finished.

I really need to start studying for my CPS exam in November. After the move, I'll concentrate on that.

As Scarlett O'Hara would say, "I'll think about that tomorrow"!

    Another Monday Survived

Today was definitely a Monday. Work was so hectic...and the fact my computer did not feel like cooperating did not help matters. I guess a positive way to look at the amount of work I have is that it's job security.

The fourth Monday of each Monday is the only one when I don't have a meeting to go to. It feels nice just know that I get to come home and be a bum. I managed to pack 10 more boxes today. I finally got a picture of Ariel sleeping on them.

Other than the packing, I'm just taking it easy today...and hope that tomorrow will be a better day.

I hope everyone survived their Monday as well :-)

    It's a Thinker

I understand why Kleenex is called "facial tissue"...you use it to wipe your face (mostly your nose). But why is toilet paper referred to as "bath tissue"? You don't use it to wipe the bath....

I'm afraid to admit it's already Sunday. On a positive note...next weekend is Labor Day so we'll have a three-day weekend (yea!).

I went up to work for a few hours today to catch up. Between the dentist appointment on Wednesday and doctor appointment on Friday, I was starting to get a little behind. It's nice going up there on Sunday, because no one is around to bug you. Without people coming in and out of my office all day...it's amazing the amount of work I can get done.

Ariel is really freaking out over this whole move thing. She’s not really sure what’s going on. She has found a nice sleeping spot on top of a pile of boxes. I guess she thinks I piled those boxes just for her. I'm sure she'll enjoy the new place...it has a small backyard so she can go outside and explore.

Well, that's all I have for now. Hope everyone has a great week!

    Maybe blogging isn't my thing...

Okay...I'm still getting used to this whole "blogging" thing. I know I should blog on a regular basis, but I haven't been doing a good job of it.

The last week just seemed to fly by so fast. I had EMS duty on Tuesday night, and it wasn't too bad. We only had two calls so I did manage to get some sleep. Wednesday night, I packed some more for the move. I also was dealing with an irritable computer. I have discovered that Norton Antivirus works better with my computer than McAfee does. I don't know if it is because I have Windows XP or what. I'm not a computer guru...nor do I pretend to be.

Tonight, I volunteered to work the cash bar at the annual CPS/CAP banquet. I didn't serve any drinks, just sold the drink tickets. Both Beverly and I volunteered to do it...then we found out earlier this week that we had to register and pay the $30 to attend. Since we were volunteering to work, we didn't realize that we would still be required to pay. It wasn't a total loss, the speaker was pretty good. Unfortunately, no one told us that we should have brought some type of petty cash for the cash box; nor did anyone tell us to bring a calculator since the drinks were all different prices (and not just "whole dollar" amounts). Talk about a mess! Fortunately, some of the attendees did have some change to give us, but it was still very organized. Being the survivors that we are, Bev and I made it through the night...without one single alcoholic drink!

Move Update: I now have 38 boxes packed! I still haven't figured out how I'm going to move the big items yet. It's not that far (just around the corner), but I still have to get the stuff downstairs...without destroying it. Beverly volunteered to help me move, which is very sweet of her. She normally goes to Jewett, TX every weekend, which is where her husband moved once he retired. She stays in Alvin during the week with her daughter, and then drives home on the weekend. So, just to help me move, she's going to stay in Alvin that weekend. I am talking the day off from work that Friday, September 12th, so I can start on moving the smaller items.

Congrats to my friend Meredith! She's also moving into a new place the same weekend I am. I'm sure she'll throw a house-warming party shortly after she moves in (hint, hint). I would throw one...but Alvin's a little far for a lot of people.

Only two months before the Aeros first home game of the season! I can't wait. It's going to be weird not having Curtis Murphy on the team, but I know he'll succeed no matter what team he is on. He is that damn good!

Well, that's it for tonight. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Moving Day Coming Sooner!

Yeah! I found out today that I get to move into my new place the weekend of September 12th instead of the 19th. Which is good, because my IAAP chapter is hosting a seminar on September 20th. I get to introduce the speaker (yippee). I'm telling you...Toastmasters is really paying off for me.

I wish I could tell you more exciting things...but my life is not that full of excitement.

My chapter had our monthly program last night. A representative from Avery was our presenter. Along with telling us all the great new products the Avery is coming out with...he also gave us free samples. We normally have 18-24 people attend our programs, but we had 40 last night! It was great turn-out. The room was a little crowded, but that's a small price to pay.

I'm on EMS duty tonight. So far, only one call...but it's still early.

Well, that's it for now! Hope you didn't fall asleep reading this :-)

    Where did the weekend go??

Wow, this weekend seemed to fly by way to fast.

I attempted to do some work on my IAAP stuff yesterday, but got frustrated when Excel decided that it didn't want to do what I wanted it to do. I worked on it some more today...the results weren't any better.

But, the weekend wasn't a total loss. I went over to the parents' house just to stop by and say "Hi". I wasn't in the house for more then two minutes when my sister, Lori, called out from her bedroom "My printer's not working!" Well, a short visit turned into over an hour long. But, I did get the printer working, so I felt like I accomplished something.

I'm moving to another apartment in the middle of next month, so I started doing some packing. It's amazing how much kitchen items you can pack up when you don't cook. A lot of people know I can't cook. I can bake...but not cook. Between the kitchen items and items from my living room, I've already filled up 9 boxes! Moving is going to be such a pain, but it will be worth it once it's done.

    That's it for now...have a great day!!!

    I'm Slacking

I know I should try to blog often, but sometimes time just doesn't allow it.

This week seemed to fly by so fast. I went to the doctor again this morning. I didn't get any answers, they just drew more blood to run more tests. It was just way too exciting. They will not be getting the results from today's blood work until Wednesday or Thursday next week.

I really need to start studying for my CPS Exam. I'm currently taking a class on the Business Law & Finance module of the exam. We're having a mock exam just over the Business Law portion next week. The real exam is on November 8th. Hopefully by then, I would have forced myself to study enough to pass.

I did get a chance after work today to talk with my best friend, Christine Morgan. With our schedules, it is hard for us to ever see each other; but it is great when we do. Her family is gearing up for the start of little league football season. Practice starts on Monday, August 18th. Her two older sons play, but the youngest one, Brandon, isn't old enough yet. I would really like to get Brandon into hockey. I think he would be great at it. Last season, he would sit and watch the NHL games with me on TV. He loved it! Whenever his mom tells him that I'm coming to visit, and I haven't arrived yet, he'll say "She's at hockey". He's too cute!

Nothing special planned for the weekend...just catching up on work. Between presentations, meetings, meetings about presentations, and doctors' appointments, I didn't get everything done this week that I wanted to. Oh well, that's what weekends are for...right!?!?!

    I did it!

I survived my presentation I had to give today to management at work. It actually wasn't too bad. I'm usually okay as far as standing in front of people and talking, but it was the Q&A session that was to follow that worried me. But...I handled it quite well. Now, the site manager wants me to give the presentation to each department at their departmental meetings. That should be fairly easy compared to today's presentation. I guess my involvement in Toastmasters is paying off!

I'm on EMS duty again tonight. At Alvin EMS, the volunteers are required to run four 12-hour shifts a month. The shifts are 6a-6p and 6p-6a. It's not too bad. Some nights, it's non-stop. Other nights, we don't get any calls. I really like those nights :-)

Ariel is doing good. She's spoiled, but that shouldn't surprise anyone. She decided last night that she wanted to bring her other toy to bed (in addition to the other toy she already has there). I'm dead-tired and ready to fall asleep...and she's show up with this second toy and wants to play. With all the pictures I have taken of her in the past, she has really gotten camera shy. When she sees the camera come out, she tends to run the other way. But, I did manage to get a picture of her with the toy that is now her favorite.

    Sunday...the day of rest?

I think Sunday is suppose to be a day of rest...but it rarely is for me. But that's okay...I do manage to get a lot of stuff done on the weekends.

Ariel is doing great. She has a new thing now that she won't go to bed until her toy is on the bed. Last night, I put the toy under the sheet. She knew it was under there somewhere, but wasn't sure where. So...she decided to pounce on every area of the sheet until she found it. It was actually quite entertaining. I don't know if that's saying much about the excitement in my life.

    Another Fun-Filled Saturday

Well, it's just like the title says...it's been another fun-filled Saturday for me. I had EMS duty last night, so I slept in this morning. I manage to clean up the apartment and do laundry. Sounds like tons of fun, doesn't it.

I managed to get some IAAP stuff done that I needed to do. I still have letters to send out to chapter members that have renewed their membership, but the letter I use is on my computer at work, so I guess I'll save that until Monday. If you want to know more about IAAP or the Clear Lake/NASA Area Chapter, go to the web site to read all about it!

    Watch Out...I'm Blogging

I didn't even know what "blogging" was until about a year ago. I guess I was a little behind the times. Hell...I still am!

Nothing exciting to report today. I'm on EMS duty tonight...so I'm just waiting for the tones to drop!
