Joyride in Porsche Lands Driver in Jail

Houston - A man's late-night joyride in southwest Houston that turned into a chase ended with police taking the driver into custody, Local 2 reported.

Police said the man, who was caught speeding on Kirby at about 3 a.m., failed to pull over when they flashed their lights at the suspect. Instead, police said the driver sped off, leading them on a chase that reached 70 mph.

The driver eventually lost control and crashed into a tree, totaling the car near River Oaks Elementary.

Officers said they were surprised the suspect did not suffer severe injuries because he was not wearing a seat belt.

The suspect is now in custody. Police have not said what charges he might face.
